We have reached the conclusion that we shall present to you this issue, as well as the solution at hand, best via an example. Further we believe that we have found a very nice example that you will be able to verify and follow easily. Thereafter you will be able to use that newly acquired knowledge with almost any application. Of course there are exceptions like for any rule but they are not the subject of this article.
Description Of The Problem Using The Following Example:
To best describe the Problem we chose the application "iTunes". Should you like to follow the procedure step by step you have to open "iTunes" now
1. Open "iTunes"
2. Select the main music database ( not a playlist but the main directory on the very top left in the library column )
3. Whether you select a existing music file for deletion, or if such a file is not available, you can import a music file especially for this purpose.
4. Delete the selected music file with the key "Delete" or with the command "Delete" from the contextual menu.
As a result there appears a dialog window that is asking you whether you would like to put the file into the trash or whether you would like to keep the song on your computer but still want to remove it from the "iTunes library" That would mean that the file in question will remain saved on your computer but you will not be able to play the song in "iTunes", at least not before would be going to re-import it at some time in the future.
Provided the rare case, that's why we chose this example, that you would indeed like to do keep the file, you can proceed as usual and use the "Return Key" to perform the task. The vast majority of your customers and acquaintances prefers to move the file to the trash since they usually want to delete a duplicate, erroneous, bad or wrong song from iTunes as well as from their computer. We do not know many who keep music stored on their computer without importing it into iTunes to listen to it eventually :-) Now you can easily understand that the default command "Keep File" is quite more often than not some kind of a hassle, because one has to switch to the mouse and has to move the cursor into place to perform a mouse click on the "Move to Trash" command.
Workaround: "Cmd+( The First Letter Of The Command You Have In Mind"
in this case this would usually be "Cmd+M" "M" like Move to Trash" This command can be different in other system languages of course, but however, simply use the first letter that is appropriate in your system language.
At this stage we would like to remind you that we strongly believe and thus recommend to use English as your system language. There are a variety of reasons to emphasize this, from which we are gladly going to list a few specially for you, to make an easier decision:
a) You will find solutions to any problem online, which is not necessarily the case in German, Italian, French and so on.
b) The number of available solutions is by far greater in English and more choice, quite often is more quality after all.
c) You are able to improve your English skills
d) You shall better find system files and preferences since they are usually in English, even if you system is in another language.
e) The same applies for content search. Most of the preferences and system files are programmed in English and thus have English content.
As mentioned earlier already, there are some exceptions, but generally speaking, you will be able to use this "Workaround" for most such dialogs.
